TUI Group Sustainability Director, Jane Ashton, appointed Travel Foundation Trustee

Jane Ashton has been appointed as a trustee of the Travel Foundation for the next three years. Her appointment was unanimously supported by the charity’s board of trustees at its last meeting.

Jane is Director of Sustainability at TUI Group, an Executive Board Member of the Global Sustainable Tourism Council, as well as chair to the Advisory Committee of the TUI Care Foundation. She is a leading authority on sustainability within the industry and a perfect fit for the Travel Foundation’s board.

Jane, who has supported the Travel Foundation since its inception, said:

“I am delighted to join the Travel Foundation as a trustee. This is an exciting time for the charity, which is uniquely placed to help destination stakeholders as they seek to respond to the UN’s ambitious Sustainable Development Goals. With its focus on driving systematic change in the industry, the Travel Foundation continues to create lasting environmental, social and economic impacts long after its individual projects have ended.

Noel Josephides, the Travel Foundation’s Chair of Trustees said:

“We welcome Jane, who brings with her a wealth of experience in sustainable tourism that will be of great value for the Travel Foundation. Jane’s understanding of the industry and the challenges and success factors involved in embedding sustainability within mainstream tourism operations will be a real asset to the board as the charity seeks to extend its work and influence in holiday destinations.”

The Travel Foundation’s board of trustees also includes:

  • Noel Josephides; Chair of Sunvil Holidays and ABTA.
  • John de Vial, Head of Financial Protection at ABTA.
  • Debbie Hindle, Managing Director at Four Travel.
  • Alistair Rowland; Group General Manager, Specialist Retail at The Midcounties Co-operative.
