Turtles in Trouble
April 2007 saw the launch of a short animated film called Turtles in Trouble, narrated by the BBC Springwatch presenter Kate Humble and partnered with the Marine Conservation Society.

The short film explains how UK tour operator practice can make a positive difference to the conservation of endangered loggerhead and green turtles during the summer holiday season at destinations in Greece, Crete and Turkey.

The light-hearted animation has a very serious message – UK tour operators have a key role to play in the protection of endangered Mediterranean marine turtle populations. This film has been developed following ground breaking work carried out by Save Our Sea Turtles in Tobago and a pilot scheme conducted in Turkey with the assistance of Prof. Ertan Taskavak of Ege University.

“I hope this spellbinding animation will leave the lasting impression that by doing our bit on holiday we can make a difference to the lives of these beautiful but endangered marine turtles.” Kate Humble, a passionate conservationist who volunteered her time in the production of the film.
