Industry Practice
Changing the practice of the UK outbound tourism industry is one of the Travel Foundation's biggest ambitions. By building sustainable practices into the roots of the industry, we hope that tourism can develop in a more sustainable way, and one which benefits companies, holidaymakers, destination communities and the environment.
We aim to change industry practice by providing training and business tools to help the UK outbound tourism industry take effective action on tourism.
Who do we want to target to try and change industry practice?
- The UK outbound tourism industry, including tour operators and travel agents
- Transport providers
- Tourism service providers
- Holidaymakers (via www.makeholidaysgreener.org.uk and Make Holidays Greener Week)
We are trying to changing industry practice in the following ways...
- Developing green business tools which offer step-by-step advice to greening your business
- Developing educational tools such as our 'Make Travel Greener' Quiz
- Developing communication tools to help build understanding
- Running education events and training sessions
- Running bespoke training events for companies
