New free guide for tour operators and industry suppliers
Make It Count is a guide for outbound tour operators and ground agents on how to scale up the sales of sustainable tourism products.
This free-to-download guide has been published in partnership with Leeds Beckett University and researched and written by Peter Richards.
It’s a collection of proven, recommended actions taken from leading tour operators and their ground agents on doing more to sell sustainable customer experiences. You may be doing many of these things already, but we hope you’ll find some new ideas and inspiration too.
Case studies come from 11 UK tour operators and 13 ground agents from destinations as diverse as Brazil, Cyprus, Costa Rica, India, South Africa, Thailand and Nepal. Contributors include some of the world’s largest tour operators; established leaders in small group travel; and smaller, highly expert, niche operators.
They give best practice tips from their experience of bringing more sustainable products into their portfolio, such as:
- Local and community-based village excursions
- Certified, ‘green’ accommodations
- Local, healthy, organic food and restaurants
- Responsible wildlife experiences
- Responsible volunteer experiences
“The Make It Count guide is an excellent source of reference for tour operators and ground operators looking for inspiration to revitalise their customer experiences in destinations.”
