Part 3: Research
Welcome to part three of the training course.
Training session length: allow 1 hour for this session
Overview
Researchers are faced with a huge challenge to discover more about Whale Sharks. They are highly mobile creatures, spending much of their time out of reach of humans. This session will cover:
What are the key questions in whale shark research that need to be answered?
What techniques are being used by scientists?
How can tour operators and tourists become involved and contribute to whale shark research? If you would like to help with research by recording the Whale Shark encounters that you have, please download the form.
TO RUN THIS SESSION...
You will need a laptop and projector.
Download the presentation and reference notes.
The course facilitator should familiarise themselves with the notes prior to leading the session. The course facilitator should encourage participants to help with research whenever possible, so that collectively, we can all learn much more about the Whale Sharks behaviour.
