Full proposal

The proposal should be no more than 10 sides of A4 (minimum 11 point font) including the Project Framework and Workplan.

 

Please ensure that each question/point below is fully addressed in the proposal.

 

Project Title

including contact name, address, phone number/ fax/ email

 

Background and capacity of lead organisation

Please provide a brief summary of the organisation, including the aims, work, management etc. and outline what expertise and experience the organisation brings to the project.

 

Summary of project

Please provide a summary of the project addressing the questions below:
  • Context: how does the project tie in with government policies and plans at the destination?
  • Need for project: what issue or problem is the project seeking to address?
  • Purpose of project /objective(s): what is the project aiming to achieve? who will benefit?
  • Start and completion date of project:
  • Project activities: what actions and activities will be undertaken to achieve the project objective(s) and deliver the outputs?
  • Outputs: what will the project produce or deliver? how will these outputs contribute to the achievement of the project objective/s?
  • Outcomes: what change will the project bring about?

Details of project partners and other bodies that are involved in project delivery

Please provide written confirmation of any project partners and a brief explanation of how they will be involved in the project.

 

Monitoring and evaluation

Please outline how you will monitor and evaluate the success of the project. What data/information will you gather to demonstrate that the project has achieved its objective(s)? Consider both baseline indicators e.g. levels of awareness pre-project, and progress indicators e.g. numbers signed up to awareness raising workshop.

NB: this information should also be summarised in the Project Framework below.

 

How the project meets the Travel Foundation’s aims and objectives.

How will the project improve tour operator practice, contribute to the economy, society or environment of a destination, or change consumer behaviour?

 

Work undertaken prior to application

Please provide details of any of the following activities already undertaken by the organisation, where appropriate

  • Research and feasibility studies
  • Consultation with destination stakeholders
  • Consultation with UK outbound tourism industry

If no consultation has taken place, please explain how you will engage relevant stakeholders in project design and implementation to ensure their full support for the project and its outcomes. 

 

Building on existing work

To what extent does this project build on or take forward existing work? Are there any individuals or organisations carrying out complementary or related work?  If so, how do you intend to collaborate?

 

Risk management

To what extent does the success of the project depend on any factors over which you may have little control, e.g. delivery of training depends on schedule of project partners, changes in destination government/policy, availability of main consultant?

Please outline the major perceived risks to this project, the likelihood of these occurring and the potential impact. What measures will you take to limit these risks?

 

Dissemination of lessons learned

To what extent will the project provide valuable outputs or lessons that can be applied more broadly? e.g. in other destinations. How do you intend to share these outputs or lessons?

 

Continuation of project post-funding

How is the work of the project, or the benefits, expected to continue beyond the completion of the project? How will any externally provided skills be transferred to local stakeholders?

Is it likely that the project will become self-sustaining or will further external support be required? If so, have potential funding sources been identified?
 

Project budget

Please provide a full breakdown of the project budget, including details of funds already raised, other funders approached and amount requested from the Travel Foundation.

For funds requested from the Travel Foundation, full details of the costs below (in £ sterling) should be provided. Additional sub-headings should be added, as appropriate:

  • Staff/consultancy time/costs
  • Travel, accommodation and subsistence
  • Equipment (e.g. IT)
  • Administration/management (telephone, fax, room rental etc.)
  • Monitoring & Evaluation
  • Production of materials e.g. manuals, leaflets etc

A COMPLETED PROJECT FRAMEWORK AND WORKPLAN MUST BE SUBMITTED WITH THE FULL PROPOSAL.

Project contracts:

Please note that all successful proposals will be required to also deliver the following as part of the contract.

  • Final report and interim reports
  • ‘Lessons learned’ pro-forma
  • Information for Communications e.g. quotes from stakeholders, measurable data etc.
  • The production or updating of an Insider Guide (only if project is in overseas destination) click here for examples

Sufficient time/resources to produce the above should therefore be built into the project.
