Gecko Villa
Gecko Villa was established through the cooperation of a travel professional and local villagers in the Northeast of Thailand. Gecko Villas aim is to maximise the economic benefits of tourism whilst protecting the environment and focusing on a positive social impact. All employment is sourced locally, as are all services and products and all profits are retained by the local community. So far the operation has permitted many of worthwhile changes such as reforestation, organic produce production, promotion of local traditions, the financing of education and the reduction of economic migration and family dispersal.

Hilton Worldwide is the first major multi-brand hospitality company in the industry to make sustainability reporting a brand standard. Hilton Worldwide properties using LightStay, a proprietary system developed to analyze and report sustainability performance, reduced energy use by 5%, carbon output by 6%, waste output by 10% and water use by 2.4% in 2009 versus 2008.

As a not-for-profit industry association STAY WYSE brings together the diverse segments of this significant multi-billion dollar industry. The Mandore Guest House and Project
Situated just a stone’s throw away from the historic and beautiful ‘Mandore Gardens’ in India. Mandore Guest House boasts delightful accommodation in the form of spacious bungalows/chalet style cottages, all encircling a large, leafy garden. The Mandore Guest House also bring people together through their voluntary organisation, Marwar Medical and Relief Society, founded and incorporated as an Non Government Organisation (NGO) in 1987/88, to share skills, creativity and learning with the aim of building a fairer world through the active involvement and collaboration between volunteers and the host community.

Tipi Algarve
Situated near the beaches of Portimao and the beautiful mountains of Monchique, Tipi Algarve provide tipi, yurt and safari tent accommodation and private camp kitchens. They grow their own organic vegetables and support principles of permaculture and sustainability such as composting, recycling, solar power and reed bed systems for toilets. They support the local community through the purchase of local, organic farm produce and letting their neighbours goats graze on their land, they also buy the cheese the goats produce. They invite families, couples and groups to explore wellbeing through a variety of holiday retreat options.
